Conferencing at BVSC enjoyed another busy year in 2018/19. We were pleased to welcome many repeat customers who tell us they value the central location which is so convenient for mainline stations – Moor Street and New Street – as well as buses, trams and city hotels.
Environmental sustainability continues to be as important to us as it is to our customers. We’re therefore constantly looking to introduce sustainable, yet cost-effective ways to reduce the negative environmental impact of our business. In the past year we have:
• Installed signage at our water filter points to encourage delegates to ‘re-use and re-fill’
• Eliminated single-use plastic from our conference operations.
• Provided metal cutlery for use with our hot meals
• Been awarded the First Mile Recycling Award of Gold
We have provided a competitively priced city venue for many years and will continue to do so. We have eight separate rooms, which can accommodate small gatherings such as board meetings or interviews, up to conferences for 180 delegates.
We have eight DDA compliant meeting rooms with movable partitions that offer you complete flexibility.
“As a wheelchair user myself I found it to be a very accessible building…” (T Philips, Google reviewer)
“I attended a short classroom led training session here and the event was very beneficial to me. The room was bright, well ventilated, comfortable and had the latest technological aids which aided in the successful delivery of the course. The venue itself is modern, clean and is a great place for small training and conference events. The Staff were friendly and helpful and the Lunch provided (as part of the session) was first-class.” (A Chaudri, Google reviewer)
BVSC Conferencing continues to support and invest in Think Venue, a collaboration of charities, voluntary organisations, social enterprises and other non profits, all of which provide meeting and conference facilities in Birmingham. The Think Venue website provides details about each venue, including a simple search function that allows conference organisers to identify a facility in Birmingham that fits their needs, whether by location, capacity or cost.
Our Conferencing Coordinator, Emma Clarke-Allsopp sits on the board of Think Venue. Emma comments:
“The Think Venue directory makes it so easy for event organisers to find a Birmingham-based, non profit venue to meet their needs – whether they’re looking for a central city location or a quiet suburban get-away. All member venues have a charitable or social aim and therefore their conference revenue contributes to their overall financial sustainability, allowing them more freedom to pursue their social aims.”
Within our building in Digbeth we also provide office space for a variety of tenants who enjoy the facilities and the central location. We can cater for small organisations who just need one desk in shared space or larger organisations looking for private space.
